Your files stay yours.

A plain-English overview of how DeDuck treats your local archive, reports, license activation, and support data.

Local-first by design

DeDuck is built to scan and organize your files on your own computer. Scanning, duplicate detection, reports, and cleanup workflows are designed to run locally. Your file names and file contents are not uploaded by the local app.

Plain English: DeDuck helps you understand and tidy your own archive without turning your files into someone else's cloud project.

What information DeDuck may use

  • Local inventory data: file paths, names, sizes, hashes, timestamps, and metadata needed to identify duplicates and generate reports.
  • License activation data: license code, device activation status, and basic purchase information if you unlock a paid plan.
  • Support information: details you choose to share when you contact us for help.

What DeDuck does not do

  • DeDuck does not upload your file contents for duplicate detection.
  • DeDuck does not modify originals during scan or detection.
  • DeDuck does not delete anything automatically.

Reports and audit trails

Reports and CSV audit trails are generated on your device and are meant to help you verify exactly what DeDuck found or changed. If you share a report with someone, that sharing is controlled by you.

Cloud connectors

If you choose an optional cloud connector in the future, that connector may require you to authorize access to the relevant cloud service. Any such feature should be reviewed separately before use.
